What We Do
Print simply anywhere. This is PrinterOn's vision. PrinterOn's mobile printing services let users print documents to any networked printer or fax machine anywhere in the world. PrinterOn solves the problems of incompatible hardware and software by moving print data securely and accurately across the Internet from any access device (PC, laptop, PDA) to any network-connected printer. Our mission is to provide secure, easy-to-use, Internet printing products and solutions to businesses, mobile professionals and individuals.
PrinterOn's History
In 1983, Steve Spicer founded Spicer Corporation, leaders in universal document viewing, scanning and printing. Spicer Corporation is focused on client-side electronic view, markup and edit software, pioneering many of the standard features found in imaging products today. In April 2000, Steve founded PrinterOn Corporation and completed a first round of private equity financing in May 2000. In July 2000, PrinterOn Corporation acquired Spicer Corporation making it a wholly own subsidiary of PrinterOn. The privately owned companies are located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
PrinterOn's Growth Strategy
PrinterOn has created new value-added services and products for mobile printing, deepening its penetration of existing markets and creating entirely new ones. As the industry pioneer of mobile printing services, PrinterOn is well positioned to meet the growing demand for remote wireless printing. In 2004, the development and installation of public printing services for the hospitality market the enterprise is a priority. In building a dominant position for public printing locations, PrinterOn will be established as the preferred vendor of mobile printing solutions for enterprise and partner revenue opportunity. As well, marketing focus will be on PrinterOn Enterprise, designed to increase productivity across corporations with print and fax solutions for desktops, notebooks and PDA users.
Our Technology
PrinterOn's printing services are built on an open standard for delivering documents over the Internet called IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) and a unique Global Printer Directory for printer owners to securely permit others to access their printer over the Internet. To simplify and encourage Internet printing, PrinterOn's services are based on Internet standards that integrate with the Directory.
User Scenarios
PrinterOn's target customer is the mobile professional who needs to conveniently print wherever they may be. The user case scenarios cover practically anyone who needs to print when they step away from their desk:
- The laptop user confronted with incompatible hardware and software when trying to connect to a printer at a hotel, business center or copy shop.
- The visitor to an enterprise who cannot connect to that enterprise's networked printers.
- The wireless device user who receives email attachments but who can't view or output those attachments.
- The user who wants immediate delivery of hardcopy documents without the costs and hassles of faxing or couriers.
- A business traveler who needs hard copy of one of their crucial documents while staying at a hotel.
- Any user who wants secure, instant, high-resolution hardcopy document delivery.
Products and Services
PrinterOn specializes in mobile printing services. PrinterOn offers enterprise Internet printing solutions for the desktop and driverless printing services for printing at public venues such as select hotels, airports, Wi-Fi hotspots and convention centers. The company also offers mobile printing services for Wi-Fi hotspot printing and wireless PDA viewing, faxing and printing. Our universal printer driver, PrintWhere, ensures print jobs are correctly delivered while simplifying the task of finding and configuring a printer.
Global Printer Directory
The key element of PrinterOn's products and services is the Global Printer Directory. The Directory allows printer owners to safely permit others to access their hardware over the Internet for responsible, controlled and correct printing. The PrinterOn Web site serves as a portal to connect Internet enabled devices and printers into a cohesive Global Printer Network.
PrintWhere
Our universal printer driver, PrintWhere, ensures print jobs are correctly delivered while simplifying the task of finding and configuring a printer. When combined with PrinterOn server products, existing corporate printers can be IPP-enabled and receive print jobs while still protected inside a firewall. When combined with PrinterOn Enterprise, users can find a printer from a wireless interactive pager and print email messages, attachments or referenced HTML pages.
PocketWhere
With PrinterOn Wireless, you can view, fax, and print email, attachments and web pages from virtually any wireless handheld device. Print to printers in your home, office or to public printers listed in the PrinterOn Directory such as at hotels and WiFi hotspots. For some of the more common devices, PrinterOn has developed PocketWhere solutions that enhance and simplify the user experience.
Services for Vertical Markets
Hotel Guest Printing
PrinterOn's Hotel Guest Printing Service provides a customized Web-portal for in-room driverless printing. Guests can easily and securely print documents, emails, email attachments and Web content from their Internet-enabled laptops. Guests at hotels with Wi-Fi access can also print to networked printers within the hotel from their wireless handheld devices (PDAs). PrinterOn's Hotel Guest Printing Service helps position hotel properties as preferred destinations for mobile professionals.The PrinterOn Guest Printing Service is now actively in service in over 70,000 rooms across North America. PrinterOn is an endorsed vendor for Hilton Supply Management and Choice Hotels International. The PrinterOn service has also been mandated as a business amenity across all AmeriTel Inns, Hilton Garden Inn and Doubletree brand hotels as well as all properties managed under Larkspur Hospitality, North Hampton Group and Dakota Properties.
WiFi & HotSpot Printing
The explosive growth in Wi-Fi installations predicted for 2004 and beyond will lead to more and more users of digital data who would like hardcopy while traveling. Internet service providers and 802.11 venue owners can increase the value of their service by with driver-based printing, driverless web printing services, and mobile PDA printing. Easy, integrated printing solutions are a key part of this strategy. PrinterOn solutions allow subscribers and guests to quickly and easily access local printing resources. PrinterOn improves profitability for the hotspot industry by attracting more users, keeping them connected longer, and creating print revenue.
PrinterOn Enterprise
Designed to increase productivity across the enterprise with print and fax solutions for desktop, notebook, or PDA users. An installed Enterprise server also hosts a mobile printing solution for Pocket PC or BlackBerry users.
New Products
Over the past year, PrinterOn has significantly enhanced its hotel printing service offering adding a self-service, customizable web site for creating branded hotel portals and a Print Delivery Station software with a customizable user interface. Beginning with 20 beta site locations, PrinterOn has successfully rolled out its' Hotel Guest Printing Portal at all Hilton Garden Inn hotels. 2004 marks the roll out across the Doubletree brand. PrinterOn is also an endorsed vendor for Hilton Supply Management as the supported printing solution for all Hilton Hotels Corporation properties.
Strategic Alliances
PrinterOn has established strategic relationships with industry partners that include software application providers, hardware manufacturers, and channel partners. PrinterOn is building partnerships with horizontal partners to enable infrastructure and services to be delivered to mobile workers: business travel services [hotels, airports, etc.], access device hardware and operating system OEMs, wireless carriers, network software OEMs, network hardware OEMs, print services and printer OEMs. Examples of PrinterOn alliances include Roger's AT&T, Good Technology, Palm, Handspring and Brother.
Service and Support
PrinterOn is committed to maintaining a highly qualified staff of professional services and support personnel who are knowledgeable about the industry and the technology in which PrinterOn is engaged. PrinterOn provides helpdesk, hotline support and technical support services which assist customers in integrating our products and services with those of other software companies.
Research and Development
PrinterOn believes that its future success depends in large part on its ability to maintain and enhance its current product lines, and to enhance its market positioning through the deployment of emerging technologies. PrinterOn continues to invest much of its resources in product development. This ensures substantial resources are focused on new products and major enhancements to existing products for partners, web services, and corporate customers. An emphasis is placed on customer opportunities at Hotels and Internet access points. PrinterOn's management believes that through the deployment of leading edge technologies in its products, the Corporation can develop and maintain a competitive advantage and deliver significant value-added services to its customer base.
